COLUMBIA, Mo.— Mike Shula had to be the most relieved man in the stadium. Through three weeks, his offense has been drawing complaints for being too boring, too plodding, too unimaginative, especially when a unique talent like LaNorris Sellers is its head.
The offense wasn’t great during South Carolina’s 29-20 loss at No. 23 Missouri on Sept. 20, but of all the nuts, bolts and screws that contributed to the loss, his offense wasn’t one of them.
Can’t have an offense if you can’t run the ball. Can’t run the ball if offensive linemen can’t block. Can’t rely on the passing game if those same linemen can’t pass-protect, nor keep themselves in check to avoid committing a staggering seven pre-snap penalties.
