CAIRO, Ga. (WCTV) - The city of Cairo held its first annual CJ Williams Remembrance 5K in Cairo on Saturday.

The event was held for CJ Williams, a Cairo police officer . In January 2023, he was assisting Grady County on a traffic stop that turned into a foot chase. He died due to a heart attack during the chase.

The 5K was hosted at Davis Park to honor Williams and raise money for the CJ Williams Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to Cairo High School seniors who plan to work in law enforcement.
