MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Shelby Co. first responders reunited with a man and his fiancé, who dialed 911 and worked with emergency crews to save his life.

During the evening of August 17, Brittany Jones, the fiancée of Ronald Lawrence, noticed him gasping for air and then he became unresponsive. Jones immediately knew to call 911 for help.

“9-1-1, what’s the address of your emergency?,” asked Dispatcher Lead Cicely Banks.

In the offices of the Shelby County Fire Department, Banks and Dispatcher MaryBelle Vazquez were on duty and began processing the call.

According to the officials, Banks relied on her training and gained answers critical to a rapid response of who was calling, their location, and the situation.
