LANDOVER, Md. — Washington Commanders fans packed the parking lots outside Northwest Stadium this weekend, firing up grills and tossing footballs ahead of the team’s matchup against the Las Vegas -- all without starting quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Daniels, who has energized the offense with his quick play style and led the Commanders to the playoffs in his first year, was sidelined with a knee injury. Veteran Marcus Mariota took over as starter.
Despite the absence, many fans said they weren’t worried.
“We’re excited. We have a great backup quarterback,” one fan said, dressed head-to-toe in burgundy and gold as a Command-alorian.
