MONTGOMERY, Ala. —

Governor Kay Ivey is doubling down on her support for student athletes in Alabama who hope to play under the state's Choose Act, following a legal challenge against the Alabama High School Athletic Association's (AHSAA) eligibility rules.

Earlier this month, a Montgomery judge ruled against the AHSAA's new rule that would keep athletes ineligible for one year if they chose to transfer schools under the law.

Now, Gov. Ivey has joined State House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter in filing another complaint against the organization's policies, which also challenge rules that threaten to penalize students and schools that do not follow eligibility policies.
