BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Officials said Highway 178 is fully reopened after Southern California Edison completed repairs to downed power lines that prompted multiple closures for more than a week.

Caltrans District 6 and the California Highway Patrol said repairs were completed Sunday afternoon by Southern California Edison crews.

Downed power lines prompted the initial closure to Highway 178 at the mouth of the canyon on Sept. 12. SoCal Edison crews worked on repairs to the power since through the week, keeping that portion of the highway closed for most of the day.
