EVERETT, Wash. — Just before 2 p.m. on September 9, Eli Vazquez was working alone at her mother’s clothing store, Las Tres Beautifuls Boutique, when a group of women allegedly stole a quinceañera dress worth thousands of dollars.

The gown was meant to be raffled off at Beautiful Catrinas , a cultural community event hosted by the boutique that showcases teens dancing in traditional dresses.

“It’s just been really hard,” Vazquez said. “The idea of who would do this, and the audacity of them to do it.”

According to Vasquez, two women carrying children entered the store and asked to try on dresses.

“They were very persistent about getting into the dressing room with me to try on the dress, and I refused,” she said. “I told them, ‘No, I can’t do that. Unfortunately, I’m by myself.’”
