AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in Texas and the 2nd leading cause of death for ages 15 through 24. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is an organization that brings programs and educates the public about suicide.

"American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, we're a national organization. However, the West Texas chapter we are our own chapter. We cover 84 counties, including the Texas panhandle, and what we do is we are the largest funder of suicide prevention research. We provide free suicide prevention education, we advocate for suicide prevention policies," said Tracy Sommers, AFSP West Texas chapter area director.
