HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) - An Indiana death row inmate is not just over two weeks away from his scheduled execution.
On Monday, attorneys for Roy Lee Ward as well as the public will have a chance to make the case as to why he should or shouldn't be put to death.
Ward is set to die by lethal injection on October 10 for the 2001 murder of Spencer County teen Stacey Payne.
Monday's hearing had been set to start Friday, but Ward declined to meet one on one with the parole board. Ward reportedly said he wanted to spare the Payne Family from having to travel to the state prison in Michigan City for the interview.
Ward is not expected to attend the hearing.
