QUINCY (WGEM) - Quincy’s Walk To End Alzheimer’s featured music, guest speakers, kids activities and a chance to take a step toward a world without dementia and Alzheimer’s.
The annual fundraiser and one-mile walk took place Saturday, Sept. 20 and raised roughly $43,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association — an organization which funds both research and local resources for patients and their families.
But, according to Alzheimer’s Association Walk Manager Todd Lamison, the event was more than a fundraiser.
“A lot of people keep Alzheimer’s to themselves. It’s hard to take care of somebody 24/7 — have somebody lose their memory," he said. “They don’t want to come out into the community and talk about it. Here, everybody knows what it’s like.”
