FARGO — What started as a fall bucket-list activity has turned into a record-breaking attraction.
The Great Straw Maze in the West Acres parking lot has swapped straw bales for over 1,000 white cedar wooden panels — creating a more durable, allergy-friendly maze — that aims to set a new Guinness World Record.
Owner Kathy Johnson said the shift from straw bales to cedar planks was due to concerns about waste, cost and durability. Cedar panels offer a long-lasting solution, addressing the issues of weather-related damage and the wastefulness of straw bales at the end of each season.
