CONWAY, S.C. (WBTV) - A historic train depot burned down in South Carolina during a massive fire on Monday morning.
The Sept. 22 blaze broke out at the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Depot around 4:15 a.m. along Highway 905 in Conway.
Conway firefighters a picture of the fire, which showed massive flames engulfing the nearly 100-year-old building. Horry County firefighters were also called in to fight the fire.
Records show the depot to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995, nearly 70 years after it was built.
Documents submitted to the register said the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Depot was constructed in 1928 and was significant for its impact on the commercial development and growth of Conway. Those documents said the depot was built after train tracks had to be rerout
