FAIRFIELD, Ala. —
Fairfield City Schools has gone from an F rating to a C, but there's still work to be done.
The school district is one point away from a B rating.
However, the superintendent isn't looking for short term success.
She's focusing on how to improve Fairfield City Schools now while setting the district up for a brighter future.
This is partially being accomplished through the Head Start and Early Head Start program.
Children from six weeks to four years old are enrolled to get prepared for kindergarten.
"Students that are of poverty, they needed to learn as early as possible. That was the key. The vocabulary as we know, they come to school with limited vocabulary," says Regina Thompson, the superintendent for Fairfield City Schools.
