CINCINNATI —

Just six games remain on the schedule for the Cincinnati Reds, who wake up Monday in a playoff position.

Despite being tied with the New York Mets in record, both sitting at 80-76, the Reds hold the head-to-head tiebreaker, which means they'd be the National League's third and final wild card team if the playoffs began today. Advertisement

But, they don't. Six games remain for the playoff field to be solidified in what has quickly become a tight race.

All but six teams across baseball are off on Monday (two of those teams, San Diego and San Francisco, are also in the wild card hunt), so the sprint to the finish will begin in earnest on Tuesday.
