Police have confirmed a two-year-old boy has tragically died after being found unresponsive at his nursery.

Emergency services and officers were called to Parbold Douglas CE Academy Nursery on Lancaster Lane in Parbold, Wigan, last Friday afternoon (September 19).

Officials were called to the scene following reports he had become unresponsive.

The child was rushed to hospital and received medical attention but despite efforts made by health staff he later died.

Lancashire police has confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious, with specialist officers said to be supporting the family of the child following the tragedy, the Manchester Evening News reported.
