EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Evansville Police Department officials are holding a press conference to address the officer involved shooting that took place early Sunday morning.

As we previously reported , officers located a stolen vehicle at Rally’s on Virginia Street just before 1:30 a.m.

Police say two suspects in the vehicle ran away when officers approached the vehicle, and one of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot at officers, hitting EPD officer Sam Taylor.

Officials say Officer Taylor and the suspect, later identified as 18-year-old Jailani Chew, were both taken to the hospital following the shootout.

Evansville Police Chief Philip Smith says Taylor is stable at this time, but may be paralyzed due to this incident.
