A Pinesdale man faces multiple felony charges after Ravalli County law enforcement responded to an altercation between the man and his mother last week.

Joseph Powell, 43, was charged with assault with a weapon, partner or family member abuse and criminal mischief following a 911 call for help from the man's mother on the evening of Sept. 18.

Ravalli County deputies responded to Pinesdale to find 68-year-old Tammy Powell hiding in her vehicle after an alleged argument with her son, Joseph Powell.

Officers observed a long knife had been stabbed into the hood of Tammy Powell's car and found the defendant in her home nearby.
