YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) -- A man charged with a May 2024 shooting on the South Side pleaded guilty Monday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court to a charge of felonious assault.

Markies Hopkins, 24, entered his plea to the charge, a second-degree felony, before Judge Maureen Sweeney.

Sentencing is set for Oct. 8.

Hopkins is accused of grazing a man in the hip on May 20, 2024, during a shooting in the 700 block of East Dewey Avenue.

Reports said the victim told police he was shot by Hopkins after the two argued on Facebook.
