There was a police response to a school in Albert Lea, Minnesota on Monday after the FBI identified an online threat.

The Albert Lea Police Department (ALPD) and Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office were informed at 7:30 a.m. of a "potential threat of violence intercepted through social media monitoring."

District 241 school officials were told about 15 minutes later, with all students already on school property moved inside school buildings, with some schools entering "secure mode due to the nature of the threat," while police officers were sent to local schools as a precaution.

Schools placed under a "secure hold" – which means doors a locked and nobody ius allowed in or out – included Brookside Education Center, Sibley Elementary School, Southwest Middle School and Albert Lea High School
