Drivers are being detoured after a tanker overturned on the Route 1 bypass in Media, Delaware County, on Monday, officials said.

An alert went out to residents stating that the Route 1 bypass will be closed to drivers near Ridley Creek until about 6 p.m. while crews work to clean a hazmat spill.

The crash happened on Rt. 1 after a 4,000-gallon tanker truck rolled over sometime before 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 22, according to the Delaware County Emergency Services.

The truck spilled about 2,000 gallons of diesel fuel onto the roadway, officials said.
