MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Nearly half a century after a man helped to save lives by stopping traffic from entering a collapsed bridge, while also rescuing a motorist from the creek below, he was honored Monday morning.

Anne Frase said she's alive today because of the selflessness of a total stranger, whose name she would later learn.

"I am eternally grateful that God put Maurice at the right place at the right time," Frase stated.

It was in March of 1980 when a portion of the bridge collapsed.
