PHOENIX — A man accused of using his brother’s identity six years ago has been arrested.
And it was all thanks to the efforts of a detective from the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Phoenix police arrested Raymond Hernandez in July, authorities said. The arrest stemmed from outstanding warrants dating back to 2019. Hernandez allegedly stole his brother’s identity to replace his suspended license.
In July 2019, documents in the motor vehicle system were flagged for potential fraud. This prompted ADOT’s Office of Inspector General to begin an investigation.
During a review, a detective compared the photos on the suspended credential and a replacement credential under his brother’s name. It was discovered that both photos were of the suspect.
