PHOENIX (KVOA) - An Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) detective's investigation has led to the arrest of Raymond Hernandez, accused of identity theft dating back to 2019.

Hernandez allegedly used his brother's identity to replace his suspended license, according to a news release.

In July, Phoenix police arrested Hernandez during a traffic stop after discovering outstanding warrants for his arrest, including charges of identity theft and forgery from 2019.

The ADOT investigation initially began when flagged documents in the motor vehicle system indicated potential fraud. Detectives confirmed Hernandez used his brother's identity without permission.

Lt. Jason Henderson of ADOT's Office of Inspector General emphasized the importance of reporting fraudulent activities.
