PHOENIX — A Valley man has been taken into custody six years after he allegedly stole his brother’s identity, officials announced Monday.

Raymond Hernandez was arrested in July by the Phoenix Police Department and stands accused of stealing his brother’s identity after his driver’s license was suspended, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

ADOT said that the Office of Inspector General began investigating this case in July 2019, when a driver’s license was flagged for fraud.

A detective compared the photos on Hernandez’s suspended license and one under his brother’s name and noticed that both photos were of Hernandez.
