BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) -- A 72-year-old Saybrook woman died Friday after a house caught fire.

Carol D. Purcell likely died from probable carbon monoxide intoxication due to inhalation of smoke and soot due to a housefire, according to McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder.

Purcell was pronounced dead at the scene, the coroner said. An autopsy was done Sunday. Toxicology testing was done, as required by state law, and those results are pending, Yoder said.

Deputies with the McLean County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched just after 4 p.m. to the house, located in the 300 block of West Oak Street. Saybrook is a small village near the county's eastern boundary.
