AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - An man will spend 7 years in prison for leading Amarillo police officers on a wild chase on Father’s Day.

Aaron Wayne Walling, 37, was sentenced this morning by District Judge Ana Estevez.

As we previously reported , on June 15, officers received an alert of a stolen car in the area of 34th and Western street.

They located the car, a Volkswagen Jetta, northbound on Western at Chama and attempted to make a stop.

The driver, later identified as Walling, accelerated and engaged officers in a pursuit.

According to Amarillo Police Department, Walling crashed through a parking garage, attempting to run over one officer trying to stop him.

Walling then crashed through the tennis court of an apartment complex near 15th and Kentucky.
