SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - South Burlington authorities said Monday that smoking materials were the cause of an early-morning porch fire.

The fire began some time before 4:48 a.m., when someone on Mills Avenue called 911 to report that their porch was on fire.

According to South Burlington firefighters, they were on the scene within six minutes, and after quickly extinguishing the porch fire, they confirmed all residents were out of the house and checked how far the fire had spread to the interior. They said that the incident was under control in less than 10 minutes.

One person sustained reported minor injuries, a resident of the house who had fallen while evacuating.
