BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A Weslaco woman who admitted to her role in delivering cocaine faces up to life in prison, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Edith Gonzalez, 34, admitted to gift-wrapping a cardboard box of nearly 20 pounds of cocaine with the intent of delivering.
Gonzalez was arrested in April 2024 following a traffic stop where she told authorities she "knew this date was coming."
As part of her plea, Gonzalez admitted to communicating with other co-conspirators to have the cocaine delivered.
Gonzalez's sentencing is scheduled for Dec 17.
If convicted, she faces between 10 years to life in federal prison, and a $10 million fine.
