CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Cincinnati City Council’s Budget and Finance Committee passed two motions focusing on the fire department Monday after a cultural assessment showed trust and transparency issues within the department.

The first motion aims to support firefighters in the city who have occupational cancer and the other would settle a lawsuit between the city and the firefighter union.

“You may not need a firefighter every day of your life, but when you do, it’s the most critical moment, so as a city we need to make sure they’re ready for you,” Cincinnati City Councilman Seth Walsh said.
