HERMITAGE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Early morning school traffic near one Hermitage elementary school is causing consternation with parents and commuters.

According to Metro Councilwoman Erin Evans, "something is off with the timing" of the school zone signal at Ruby Major Elementary School. Whatever timing issue exists is not allowing for the proper flow of cars between the school and the roads.

It's causing major traffic backups in the mornings, to the frustration of both parents dropping their children off at school and regular commuters on their way to work.

"Traffic is getting backed up from Bell Road to Jon Hager [Road] where the school four-way stop is," Evans told News 2. "It's probably about a third of a mile."

Compounding the issue is the turn signal from South New Hope Road onto Bell
