More than 500 new student housing beds could be in the works at the University of Victoria, with the earliest move-in date set for 2029.

UVic is exploring an expansion of its residence precinct with a project that would add a sustainable, high-density complex for upper-year and graduate students.

The proposal, which includes 510 new beds, is still in the design phase, shaped by feedback from the campus and surrounding community.

Construction is being targeted for spring 2026, with a goal of welcoming students in September 2029.

The university hosted two open houses earlier this year and received 163 survey responses.
