CONCORD, N.H. (ABC22/FOX44) - For seven years, judges in New Hampshire have been required to consider defendants' financial situations when setting bail, and the state had eliminated cash bail for many misdemeanors. As of this week, that is true no longer.
New Hampshire Governor Kelly Ayotte on Monday praised the end of bail reform, saying that the law had been a "revolving door for violent criminals." The repeal, House Bill 592, passed the New Hampshire Senate unanimously in March of this year and came into effect on Sunday.
