The Trump administration has proposed a new treatment for autism after claiming paracetamol use during pregnancy is linked to the neurological and developmental disorder.
US President Donald Trump fronted a press conference alongside Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F Kennedy Jr and Mehmet Oz, administrator of the Centres for Medicare and Medicaid Services, to announce the Autism Action Plan.
The move comes after President Trump went off-script at the memorial for Charlie Kirk, promising a huge medical announcement was to come, adding, "I think we found an answer to autism".
The action plan includes the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issuing a physician notice and initiating a safety label change on acetaminophen, also known as paracetamol.
