Every community has local heroes that fight for change and work to make a difference. One unsung hero in Stony Point is Hunter Stoll, a senior at North Rockland High School, who was just awarded the Hometown Hero Scholarship by National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS). This award honors and celebrates students who show outstanding leadership and dedication to serving their communities. When Stoll recognized that young people in his community lacked access to hands-on safety education, he went to work right away. He created a Child and Babysitting Safety course designed for middle school students, which covered topics like basic first aid, emergency recognition, childcare responsibilities, and optional CPR. He worked with local schools to teach the course during the school day
