FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Family members and friends are grieving the loss of 10-year-old Corday Brown, who was hit and killed by a truck Sunday afternoon while walking near the Highway 99 on-ramp at Cesar Chavez Boulevard.

A candlelight vigil is planned in the area Monday evening to honor Corday’s memory. Loved ones say they’re still in shock over the tragedy and insist he was not playing in the street when he was struck, despite initial reports from authorities.

Nine-year-old Joshua White could only find one word to describe the last 24 hours: “Bad.” Through tears, he recalled happier moments with his stepbrother.

“He was playing games on the PlayStation 5. He was first in our second, and we were always together,” Joshua said.
