BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY FOR POSSIBLE SEVERE STORMS BEGINNING LATE WEDNESDAY : A cold front is on the way, and this will bring a more organized risk for a few scattered strong to severe storms late in the afternoon Wednesday, Sept. 24 and continuing into the evening.

The good news is this system has the potential to bring some beneficial rainfall, especially northwest on Wednesday. We will continue the First Alert Weather Day through 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25 for the continued chance for some locally heavy rain, especially in the far north.

I want to stress this isn’t a guarantee every location will see heavy rain and severe storms, but a low-end risk is there, and we want to make sure you have the First Alert. Now would be a good time to double check storm
