SALEM, Ore. — A 23-year-old man accused of causing a crash that killed four people in Salem over the weekend admitted to drinking before driving and had alcohol inside his vehicle, prosecutors claimed in court Monday.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said deputies found an 18-pack of Modelo beer on the floorboard of the Volkswagen Jetta driven by Saul Hernandez-Roblero, along with an open container in the center console.
Prosecutors told a judge Monday that Hernandez-Roblero’s blood alcohol content was 0.126, well above Oregon’s legal limit of 0.08. They said he admitted to police that he had been drinking the night of the crash and that he regularly drinks and drives.
