ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - On Monday, Atlanta leaders pressed fire officials on how they’re being impacted by ongoing gaps in the fire fleet.
“Right now we are just kind of making do with what we’ve got,” said Gary Robb, deputy chief of field operation for Atlanta Fire Rescue.
As of Monday, Atlanta Fire has three fire engines and two fire trucks out of service and three fire stations are closed for renovations.
Last year , crews reported a series of equipment failures and delays while responding to a massive fire at the Bell Collier Village apartments in northwest Atlanta.
“We have to kind of fill holes here, fill holes there. We have to work to get our equipment repaired, that we can repair,” said Atlanta City Councilmember Dustin Hillis.
