Former detective backs calls for fresh probe into ‘suspicious death’ of Leitrim pensioner Liam Farrell (87)

Warning of ‘serious unanswered questions’ around case

The death of Leitrim pensioner Liam Farrell merits a fresh investigation, including the exhumation of his remains for a forensic examination, a former member of the garda cold-case unit has said.

Retired senior detective Alan Bailey said “serious unanswered questions” still surrounded the investigation of Mr Farrell’s death at his home near Rooskey, Co Leitrim, in January 2020.
