Maria Steen’s lifeline to a nomination could be dependent on coalition TDs breaking party ranks to back her for a tilt at the Áras.
Speculation is centring on two Fianna Fáil TDs who were not supportive of Jim Gavin, as well as a Fine Gael member of the Oireachtas, signing her nomination papers.
