The UK has announced a ban for under-16s and even some stores have introduced age restrictions. So why has Irish legislation been put on pause?

On September 3, the UK announced its plans for a new law banning the sale of high caffeine energy drinks containing more than 150mg of caffeine per litre to under-16s.
With almost universal agreement from Irish parents, schools, and the health sector that these drinks pose a risk to children’s health and well-being, why are we not taking the same decisive action here?
