If the view-changing work of cranes and bulldozers isn’t enough to convince you of the enormity of work near the Loop 101, visit the city’s “active cases map” (scottsdaleaz.gov/planning-development/active-cases-map).

Along Scottsdale Road on either side of the Loop 101, you will see a mass of blue dots – representing “projects under construction.”

In addition to 200-plus construction permits (some projects have multiple permits), another dozen yellow dots represent projects “awaiting public hearing.”

While Optima McDowell Mountain Village apartments and tech giant ASM are putting up huge projects on the south side of the freeway, the massive One Scottsdale project is adding condos, offices, restaurants and more to the north.
