I n a bid to influence driver behavior and make Gilbert’s roads safer, the town is launching a six-month traffic signage program this week.

Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 1, some 80 to 100 signs with different short messages will be placed on 10 of Gilbert’s high traffic intersections.

During a recent council study session, town staff explained the initiative – a follow-up to a traffic signage recommendation previously made by council members Chuck Bongiovanni and Jim Torgeson.

Both members suggested the program in May when Gilbert Police presented data on collision trends in the town.
