Death threat near Baja California Attorney General's Office sparks alert in Mexicali

A death threat targeting a ministerial agent from the Baja California Attorney General’s Office (FGEBC) set off heightened security measures in Mexicali on Sunday morning, according to news media outlet reports.

Authorities reported that a banner, known locally as a “narcomanta,” was discovered hanging on the pedestrian bridge at Río Nuevo and Calzada Independencia. The message allegedly referenced ongoing disputes within the Sinaloa Cartel, specifically between factions loyal to Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada and the sons of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán.

The incident comes less than 24 hours after armed groups carried out coordinated attacks in Ensenada, where two FGEBC facilities were targeted
