IMPERIAL — Representative Dr. Raul Ruiz toured Imperial Valley on Thursday to survey the damage from Tropical Storm Mario, which brought flooding, power outages, and widespread damage. On September 25, 2025, Ruiz met with officials from the Imperial Irrigation District (IID) and county representatives, driving to Holtville, where a string of power lines was in the process of being restored.
Tropical Storm Mario struck just weeks after another round of severe weather battered the Valley. Much of the area's infrastructure, from outdated bridges to aging power systems, has struggled to keep pace with both population growth and increasing weather patterns.
“We've been working with the county," Ruiz said, adding that such multiple project collaboration throughout the years has helped fix brid
