Medway Council is contemplating persisting with its rejected plan for local government reorganisation (LGR), using its own funds to finance it.
The council's cabinet will discuss commissioning a business plan to assess the feasibility of its proposal for four unitary authorities to replace Kent's current structure.
Despite being published last month, the proposal was dismissed by other council leaders at a meeting on September 3. Instead, two maps, one featuring three councils and another with four but in a different arrangement than Medway Council's version, were selected to progress to the next stage.
Consultancy firm KPMG has been tasked with creating a business case for these two options. However, Medway Council leader Cllr Vince Maple (Lab) emphasised the importance of getting the
