CUYAHOGA COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) – A man caught on video abusing his dog is scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday morning.

Devonta Staten was indicted on a felony charge of cruelty to companion animals, the FOX 8 I-Team reported.

Bedford Heights police said Staten was caught on video abusing his dog.

The incident happened May 7 at an apartment complex in Bedford Heights.

On the video, Staten can be seen walking in the stairwell carrying the dog, he then throws her down on the floor. The dog tries to run away but a few seconds later, Staten is seen dragging her and then throwing her against the wall.

Staten pleaded guilty last month and withdrew his not guilty plea.
