CLEVELAND (WJW) -- Does the tap water at your home taste off right now?

Viewers recently wrote in to FOX 8 News describing their drinking water as tasting "earthy" or more "metallic," leading us to reach out to Cleveland Division of Water.

Cleveland Water confirmed Tuesday that some customers throughout their service area were "experiencing unpleasant water tastes or odors."

A spokesperson for the public utility said the water changes were caused by high levels of algae in Lake Erie, along with ever-changing conditions on the lake.

"There are no health concerns, and the water is safe to use as normal. We have adjusted our water treatment methods accordingly," Cleveland Water sa
