Four Florida schools made it into the top 50 public colleges and universities in the country, and one even held onto its spot in the top 10, according to U.S. News and World Report .

And South Florida didn't stay behind, giving one (or two if you count Tampa) group of students reason to celebrate.

The University of Florida held onto its spot in the top 10 public universities in the country, where it ranks 7th. This also makes it the top public school in the Sunshine State.

The Seminoles at Florida State University are the next to make the list, ranking 21st among all public universities in the country and 2nd in Florida.
