The University of South Florida is ranked higher than ever in U.S. News and World Report’s annual higher education rankings .
The Tampa-based school ranked No. 88 overall in 2026 among all public or private universities in the nation, up three spots from last year. USF also rose two spots to No. 43 among all public universities, the seventh year in a row the school has landed in the Top 50.
Its growth in rankings has been meteoric, rising 40 spots among all public universities over the past 10 years, from No. 83 a decade ago.
Additionally, USF has climbed 71 spots among all universities, public or private, going from No. 159 a decade ago to No. 88 now.
